Whisky tasting at Bar & Billiard Room
Gentle(wo)manly pursuits at the revamped Bar & Billiard Room at Raffles Singapore. B&B is the oldest existing bar in its original location in Singapore, and it will bring you back to the old school with their crazy storage of 400 curated whiskies alongside an entirely new cocktail list and bar menu. Sophisticated yet relaxed, just like what you would expect a gentlemen bar to be (cigars included, not that i approve of smoking).
Even if you can't appreciate whisky (like me), you can get schooled here by Christoph B. Nyfeler Raffles Singapore’s Resident Whisky Expert (dude has 16 years of whisky experience). For serious drinkers, the whisky list here boasts a strong Scottish presence with a good selection of American bourbons and Japanese whiskies, many of which hand selected, limited ed and directly imported.
These are some special whiskies, probably not to be seen in Singapore again once they are gone. Presenting the Spey Chairman's Choice, Glengoyne Cask Strength, and Bruichladdich 1992.
As for me, i favored the whisky-led cocktails.
Menu highlights include the BBR 1896. This chamomile tea smoked, fat-washed bourbon was creamy and savory on first taste, and gave way to a subtle, floral aroma.
Boston Sour ($24) was my favorite because i'm a girly girl. This umami Bourbon Whiskey is salty and sweet, with a tinge of sour (there's lemon juice and sweet plum foam).
Bar bites include little nibbles (the portions are tiny) and larger sharing plates.
I approve of the Arancini and Crabmeat Cigars wrapped in vine leaves.
Oh and definitely the Chocolate Whisky Stonesthree different flavours. Dark is my favorite of course and it pairs superbly well with the whisky.

Bar & Billiard Room is quite the boys' hangout. Have a game over drinks. Or kick back with the live jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Great post! I just came across your blog for the first time. I'm visiting Singapore from the states in January and will keep reading your blog for recommendations on what to see and do and where to eat and drink when I come to visit. This may be a silly question, but do you list your prices in Singapore dollars? For example the cocktail of both for $24. Thanks!
